A Stunning Stitch Up & Celebration in Sycamore
I had so much fun at the grand opening of Stunning String that when they invited me and my friend Tamara of Moogly blog to co-host a Stunning Stitch Up I knew it would be a blast. I reached out to a few of our Stitch Up sponsors and with their help (THANK YOU JIMMY BEANS WOOL & KNITTER’S PRIDE) we were able to have ourselves a Stunning Stitch Up!
What a hoot to bring the Stitch Up yarn tasting and other fabulous event specialties to this new local yarn shop.
Stunning String has so many great yarns to offer and since I have had the pleasure of becoming familiar with their bases I thought bringing the Stitch Up Yarn Tasting to Stunning String would be the perfect fit. Sponsored by Knitter’s Pride, attendees were treated to a variety of the top Stunning String offerings and the amazing team at Knitter’s Pride made sure there were hooks and needles a plenty for all to be swatched and sampled. Like at other Stitch Up Yarn Tastings, a serving of tastings of my kind of fiber! I loved seeing everybody getting to try these amazing fibers.
To make the event even more special, Tamara and I coordinated a new pattern design & release that Stunning String turned into kits for Dueling Diamonds.
Tamara designed a crochet hat and cowl featuring crocheted textured diamonds and it is just magnificent. She selected two incredibly beautiful jewel tone colors in Stunning String Plump DK Yarn and the texture of creating the crochet diamonds matched with the beautiful dyed yarns is simply perfect. You can bet I will be making a set of this in crochet for myself.
I designed the knit set using the colors Dove and Funky Fuchsia because you know I am all good with anything pink in my life. Admittedly, the knit version has way more drape than the crochet version and I am keen for the structure and texture, but I love them both and had so much fun texting back and forth with Tamara to collaborate on this design. Launching them at workshops at this special event was event better.
