Knitters Pride Ginger Interchangeables Review
I have had the honor to work with Knitters Pride for the past few years. In fact, shortly after I started knitting I had pretty much realized Knitters Pride would be my choice of needles. Not only am I a huge fan of their knitting needles and tools, but as a company I admire all the work they do in their community. So of course I am always excited when I get a chance to turn people on to their company and their products.
I have been using the new Ginger Set since it came out a few months ago and love it so much. I was all set to write up this bloggy review of them and it just so happened that the same week I was starting to write my review, my maker pal Bonnie posted on Instagram that she got her set of Knitters Pride Gingers for her birthday. So I thought hey… how fun would it be if Bonnie did the review because you guys already know what I think. I LOVE THEM. Well guess what? So does Bonnie! Read on and see what she thinks …
It’s been a little over a year since I decided I wanted to learn how to knit. As a crocheter of 8+ years, I already own a good collection of crochet hooks that I love using. Being new to knitting, the thought of figuring out what needles to use is somewhat stressful. Straight, double pointed, circular needles...so many options! As I became more familiar with the different types of knitting needles, I grew to love circular needles. They are versatile on SO many levels.
So I started my search for a good interchangeable circular needle set. I looked at so many sets and never could decide on one. When I came across the Knitter’s Pride Ginger Interchangeable Circular Deluxe Set, I was sold immediately. I mean, look at the case! It is made with beautiful vegan leather and sturdy enough to keep your needles protected at all times.
Now on to the most important part, the needles. Talk about a jaw dropper! They are made with a beautiful laminated birch wood, which keeps these needles lightweight. One of the very first things I noticed when working with them was how incredibly smooth and truly lightweight they are!
Another amazing thing about this set is that it has 13, yes 13, different needle sizes. This was the first set I came across that has such a great range in sizing. The tips are 5” and range from 3.25mm to 12mm.
This set features:
13 sets of interchangeable tips: US 3 (3.25mm), US 4 (3.5mm), US 5 (3.75mm), US 6 (4mm), US 7 (4.5mm), US 8 (5mm), US 9 (5.5mm), US 10 (6mm), US 10.5 (6.5mm), US 11 (8mm), US 13 (9mm), US 15 (10.0mm), US 17 (12mm)
A premium needle case with pattern holder in denim & beige finish
6 Cords (to make 24"(2), 32" (2) & 40" (2))
12 End caps
6 Cord keys
20 Linea stitch markers
1 set of magnets
1 set of cable connectors
Pen
As I mentioned earlier, the case is pretty great. It also doubles as a pattern holder! The leather loops on each side can be used to hook to the toggles and make your case stand up. On the opposite side of your needles, there is a place to hold your current pattern. There is a magnetic strip included to hold your pattern. It’s perfect for those who like to have an actual printed pattern in front of you, instead of an electronic screen. The matching birch wood pen is great for jotting pattern notes down. The case comes with a pocket to store your extra cords, caps, keys and stitch markers. I often misplace things, so it’s great to have everything contained in one area.
I started my first ever knit sweater (the Storm Tweed Sweater by RainandBolt Knitwear) and it’s going amazing. These needles are everything I could have imagined. They work as smooth as butter. Also, the cords are very flexible! The connection point between the cord and the needle is seamless, no snagging what-so-ever.
Overall as a newbie knitter, this new Knitters Pride Ginger Set has been a dream to work with. The quality, beauty and ease of these needles are so much more than I could have asked for. If you are in the market for a new interchangeable set, you won’t be disappointed!
