Time To Get Twisted With The Lexington Shawlette & Scarf
I think one of my favorite things about attending events like Stitches Midwest is not just the people but that I get to discover new things. New fibers. New indie dyers. And since I do not spin or dye yarn, these are humans who truly blow me away with their talent. One such discovery at Stitches Midwest in 2017 was Twisted Fiber Arts. I immediately fell in love with the yarn, the vibe, the humans - Oh that Beth had me in stitches (no pun intended).
I am sure, like me, you have seen all the cakes of color at the local yarn shop and craft store. Well let me tell you that Twisted Fiber Arts takes Cakes to a whole new level. Their website calls it Evolution in Yarn, the next generation in color. I mean talk about NEXT LEVEL!! Dang! They deliver!
Though I am typically not a fan of blue and stick to the pinks and reds and pops of purple, the tones and colors Downton Evolutions called to me and I knew I wanted to make a shawlette/scarf that would be great for every human. Guys and gals alike!
I went with a Large Cake (because …um …. helloooooo) in the Tasty base. The Tasty DNA is delicious (all these food refs are making me hungry). It is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; Fingering and 100% AMAZING! That tiny hint of cashmere truly makes the difference and I love the way it feels as I work it up .
The larger cake is approximately 500 yards and that was perfect for this project. The beautiful thing is that the yarn did the heavy lifting with the colorwork and I was able to focus on the stitch pattern. I developed a symmetrical stitch pattern so there would be a shapely design element but the colorwork and the fiber would be the star of the show.
I could not be more pleased with the Lexington Shawlette Scarf. Versatile in how you wear it and great for transitional seasons. I was even more excited when Happily Hooked Magazine wanted to feature it in their Holiday Gifting issue. It truly is a great gift for yourself or someone you love! And this yarn… OH THIS YARN… I gotta get more :-)
