Since I opened my small handmade business a few years ago, this Boho Triangle Scarf / Shawl has been my number one selling item in my shop or at events. People just love it. I personally have a few in several colors. It is so special.

Why do you ask? Why is this seemingly simply triangle such a big hit? Well, because it is one of the few designed from the base not the peak of the triangle and that is a game changer. I call it the Four Way Molly because it can be anything you want. It is designed to be a shawl, a wrap, a scarf, a sarong.. WHATEVER you need! When I travel back and forth to Miami from Chicago, it is all I need because it suits all climates!

The design here is detailed for Lion Brand Heartland because that is such a great yarn for this pattern. But the truth is that you can make this in ANY yarn you want. I have made it in a bulky #5 weight yarn and just had to go up to an N hook and it was spectacular.

Stitches / Abbreviations:

fsc - foundation single crochet
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
ch – chain
sp – space
sl st – slip stitch

st(s) - stitch(es)

Pattern Notes:

Gauge: 4” sq = 6 pattern stitches (dc, ch 1) x 6 rows
***Gauge is for yarn and hook and size here. If you use a different yarn, use apprpriate hook and you may not meet gauge. That is ok - just go to meet the base measurement

Size: The Pattern is written for the size shown but can easily be customized to any size.
To customize: Measure “wingspan”, hand to hand as a measurement for the base.
Adjust Base Row to meet that measurement in multiples of 4 + 2

Stitch work: This is designed to create a “box” effect. So it is VERY important starting at Row 2 that you work in chain spaces and not into actual stitches

BASE: Ch (or fsc) 174 for approx  66”.
*** for a longer base you can add stitches as long as multiple of 4)
Then Ch 2 (for your turn)

Row 1: SC into the 2nd st from hook. (Skip one chain), * Ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch*,  repeat * to * until 2 ch sts remain, Ch1, SC in the last Chain. Turn

Rows 2 & on: SC into the 2nd ch from hook

Then * Ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next ch* (skip the dc, not the ch, since you're working a dc into every ch across) *,  repeat * to * until 2 ch sts remain

Then Ch1, DC in next to last ch sp,

Then SC in last chain space.

Turn

Continue with the steps from Row 2 until you have 4 chain spaces left; Then:

SC in 1st chain space, * ch 1 & 1 DC in next chain space * repeat * to * sc in last chain space

Fasten off & weave in end

FRINGE:

Using two 14” strands attach to each open space around using Lark’s Head Knot

Trim fringe to desired length once all are attached
