Oh yeah guys... I am back with another One Skein Wonder! The texture of the Boulder Beanie Free Crochet Pattern will blow you away. It is subtle yet beautiful. Ah.. I love this hat! You can fold the brim for a snug beanie style or add a pom pom and have a fun slouchy style. This hat can be whatever you want!
As I said before in other posts, my favorite thing about one skein crochet beanie hats is that they can be classic and stylish and still be somewhat simplistic in design. No need to go all crazy - just a few classic stitches with my own twist and BAM! A fabulous hat is born.
Supply List:
Lion Brand Heartland Thick & Quick Yarn (1 skein)
Crochet Hook Size N/P 10mm - I used my Furls Hook and LOVED it
Large needle to weave ends
Removable Stitchmarker
Pom Pom Maker (optional but who doesn't love a pom pom)
Stitches Used / Abbreviations (US Terms):
ch - Chain
bl – Back Loop
fl – Front Loop
hdc – Half Double Crochet
sc - Single Crochet
sl st – Slip Stitch
st(s) - Stitch(es)
Gauge: 6 hdc x 4 rows = 4”
Finished Size: 20” circumference x 10" depth (before pom pom)
Note:
You will be working in the round so DO NOT Sl St to join Rounds after Round 1.
TIP: Place your removable stitch marker in the first stitch of each of the rounds. This will help keep you on track and be able to identify the beginning of the round. When you encounter the marked stitch on successive rounds, remove the marker, work the first stitch of the next round, then replace the marker in this new first stitch of the round.
PATTERN:
Start with a magic loop. If you do not know how to do a magic loop you can chain 3 and slip stitch together to form a chain circle. Either in your magic loop or your chain circle:
Round 1: Ch1 (does NOT act as st), 10 hdc in magic loop or ch 3, sl st to top of first hdc to join and complete Round. Total for Round 1 is 10 hdc.
Round 2: Ch1, [hdcbl, hdcfl] into each st around st. Total for Round 2 is 20 sts
Round 3: Skip ch 1, *hdcfl in first st, [hdcbl, hdcfl] in next st, hdcbl in next st, [hdcfl, hdcbl] in next st* ; repeat * to * around, Total for Round 3 is 30 sts.
Round 4: *Hdcbl in next st, hdcfl in next st* ; repeat * to * around. Total for Round 4 is 30 sts.
Round 5: *Hdcfl in next st, hdcbl in next st* ; repeat * to * around. Total for Round 5 is 30 sts.
Rounds 6-10: Repeat Rounds 4 & 5 alternating.
Fasten Off.
Weave in ends.
Add pom pom for a fun look as shown
