Light Speed Shawl Free Knitting Pattern
Working again with one of my fave indie dyers Asylum Fibers is always a joy and this time we teamed up with up and coming designer Corrado Lark to bring you the Light Speed Shawl collaboration. From working together to develop exclusive colors, to deciding color names and textures - this collaboration and creative process has been super fun.

MATERIALS:
Color A: Asylum Fibers Errant Aran (181yds/100g) 100% superwash yarn in the “Trickery” colorway.
(Two skeins for a large)
Color B: Asylum Fibers Merino Bulky (109yds/100g) 100% superwash yarn in the “Green, it is.” colorway.
(Two skeins for a large)
Color C: Asylum Fibers Merino DK (219 yds/100g) 100% superwash yarn in the “Force of Blue” colorway.

US Size 7 / 4.5 mm 40” Circular Needles

ABBREVIATIONS:
CO – cast on
k: Knit.
p: Purl.
yo: Yarnover. (Increase of one stitch)
sl1: With the yarn in back, slip one stitch as if to purl throughout pattern.
wyif sl1: With the yarn in front, slip one stitch as if to purl throughout pattern.
k2tog: Knit two stitches together. (Decrease of one stitch)

GAUGE: 16 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” garter stitch

Large Size: 47 x 90 x 92 inch triangle with a 36 inch height
NOTES:
Carry the yarn up the sides. Or don’t. The rolled edge hides a multitude of sins.
To wear the Small: There are many ways to wear this shawl. By holding any side of the shawl to your neck, you can tie the other two ends together or wrap the shawl around in various ways. See photos!

4: (B) Knit to 5 before end of row, p1, wyif sl1, p1, wyif sl1, k1.
5: (A) k2, sl1, k1, sl1, knit to 2 before end of row, yo, k1, yo, k1. (Inc. of 2 st.)

25-32: Repeat Rows 21-24 two more times. (Inc. of 8 st.)
33-36: Repeat Rows 17-20 once more. Cut Color C. (Inc. of 4 st.)
37-48: Repeat Rows 21-24 three more times. Cut Color A. (Inc. of 12 st.)
49-52: Repeat Rows 17-20 once more. Cut Color B. (Inc. of 4 st.)
53-56: Repeat Rows 13-16 once more. (Inc. of 4 st.)
57-64: Repeat Rows 9-12 twice more. Cut Color C. Bind off if knitting the small. (Inc. of 8 to 181 st.)
Large Size Option: Make sure you have one extra skein of each color used, and instead of binding off, repeat rows 5-20 once more, only repeating Rows 5-8 three times (instead of 7 times) but including all other repeats (Inc. to 233 st.). Continue with rows 25-48 (Inc. to 257 st.), then bind off.
Stretchy Bind Off: (A) k1, repeat *k1, insert your left needle into the front of the two worked stitches, and knit them together (through the back loop)* until you have one stitch left.
Cut your working yarn and pull through the last stitch to secure. Weave in your ends and wet block well with T-pins/flexible blocking wires, all edges except the cast on, rolled edge will be curved.
