Once Upon A Fade Shawl Free Crochet Pattern
I have to tell you that I have been a fan of Alex from With Alex for SO LONG! Not only are her crochet tutorials fantastic and informative but I am always falling in love with her shawls (and a little envious of her cooking skills). Alex designs such light and airy inspired shawls that they make me want to go in the field and twirl with them. Truly creative! So when she wanted to collaborate and bring one of those shawls to the Stitch & Hustle community I about fell over with joy. YES PLEASE! I was even more excited when she wanted to use one of my favorite yarns: Universal Bamboo Pop! This shawl is great for spring, fall, whenever you need. You can also keep on going with repeats and make it as big as you want. Wrap it around your hips like a sarong on vacation and you are set.
Thank you Alex for bringing such a beautiful design to Stitch & Hustle! And thank you to Universal Yarn for providing such beautiful yarn of this design.

Abbreviations
ch: chain
yo: yarn over
st: stitch
sk: skip
sp: space
sc: single crochet
2sc: single crochet increase
ca: color a (should be a variegated yarn)
cb: color b (should be a plain, dark colored yarn)
Gauge: 7 sts and 4 rows = 2 inches
Notes:
With the size P crochet hook, I crochet a little loose and with the Size Q crochet hook, I crochet a little tighter.
You continue with the repeats to make this shawl even larger, if you would like but will require more yarn.
Most of the pattern is worked with 2 strands of yarn and the size P crochet hook, but the lacey sections are worked with 1 strand of yarn and the size Q crochet hook.
You may add tassels if you would like, but since it’s such a large shawl, I felt that mine did not need them.
Gauge is not important if you substitute yarn weights. You may need to follow the additional repeat instructions and you may need more or less yarn. If substituting yarn, you may not need to switch back and forth, between skeins. I switch back and forth so that I have less yarn ends to weave in, and to get the most out of the yarn
Please read all of the notes before starting this pattern.
