The Armonk Mommy & Me Cowl Set Free Crochet Patterns (and Yes, Daddy Too)

As an avid crocheter there are times when I love that the yarn does the "work" for me and I can create something that looks like it was twice as hard as it actually is to create. This is a handy dandy trick while making things for holidays and gifting. One fabulous yarn that does this trick is Scarfie by Lion Brand. This yarn though!!!

OK I have a confession: I had two balls of this yarn sitting in my studio for over a year. Lion Brand had graciously sent them to me to try out but I just was either so busy or had no idea what to make that they sat there. Eventually, while I was cleaning out my studio last month, I was reminded I had them and this time I was instantly inspired of what to make. Don't you love it when that happens!?

I decided to update my super popular MC Cowl & Snood Pattern, to a new mommy & Me set. And of course, can't forget Daddy Too! And what is so fabulous is that you can make the Mommy & Me Set with a single skein of Scarfie! You will need a half skein more for dad but hey, that happens lol.

Supply List:
1 Skein Lion Brand Yarn Scarfie makes Mommy & Child Size
.5 Skein Lion Brand Yarn Scarfie makes Daddy Size
Crochet Hook Size L – 8 mm
Large needle to weave ends

Stitches Used / Abbreviations:
fhdc – Foundation Half Double Crochet
ch - Chain
sc - Single Crochet
sl st – Slip Stitch
hdc – Half Double Crochet

Gauge:   4” sq = 12 sts x 13 rows = 4” in Linen Stitch

Finished Dimensions:
Mommy: Circumference: 24” circumference x 13” tall
Child: Circumference: 20” circumference x 10” tall
Daddy Too: 27” circumference x 15” tall

MOMMY
Round 1: Fhdc x 74, sl st to join *** be careful not to twist when joining***.
Round 2: Ch 1 (does NOT act as st), sc in same hdc, *ch 1, skip fhdc, sc in next*, repeat * to * around, ch 1, sl st to first sc, ch 1, turn.
Round 3: Sc in ch-1, *skip sc, ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space*, repeat * to * around, ch 1, sl st to first sc, ch 1, turn.
Rounds 4- 44: Repeat Round 3
Round 45: Hdc in each sc and space around, sl st to first hdc – 74 hdc.
Fasten Off. Weave in ends.

CHILD
Round 1: Fhdc x 62, sl st to join *** be careful not to twist when joining***.
Round 2: Ch 1 (does NOT act as st), sc in same hdc, *ch 1, skip fhdc, sc in next*, repeat * to * around, ch 1, sl st to first sc, ch 1, turn.
Round 3: Sc in ch-1, *skip sc, ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space*, repeat * to * around, ch 1, sl st to first sc, ch 1, turn.
Rounds 4- 34: Repeat Round 3
Round 35: Hdc in each sc and space around, sl st to first hdc – 62 hdc.

DADDY TOO (will require a second ball of yarn)
