Getting Organized For Success With The Knitter's Planner
/Goal Setting is a real thing and it requires follow up. For me, the plan matters more than the goal and in 2020 I am Getting Organized For Success With The Knitter's Planner! I am very excited about this because The Knitter's Planner features so many things I love about starting a new year, or starting after a new goal and allows me to gather my thoughts and set a path to success. Here are just a few things I am loving about this new gem. Thank you Knitter’s Planner team for sending this treat to me - And scroll on down because you can win one of these beauties of your very own too!
One thing I have learned over the years is that I am truly an analog gal. That is OK by me too. I like to write things down. I like the feel of a good pen in my hand. I like to erase and rewrite and mark notes. I like planners and journals that tell a story at the end of the year and turning the pages as I go. Maybe that is also why I love to make things. Designing and making things really does suit my analog ways. The irony that you are reading this on a blog on an electronic device is not lost on me. I understand and have made peace with the balance I must find in the modern world and having built a business based on tech and digital. I get it. But still, I am just an analog gal at heart.
I was looking for a planner to start the new decade, 2020 with intention. A planner that would help me focus and succeed. Just as I was looking (and not really finding what I wanted) I was contacted by the team at The Knitter’s Planner and boy am I thankful. They let me pick which design I wanted - which was not easy because they have SO MANY to choose from it is incredible. I went with the stripes because I like a pop of random color in my world. But more than just a pretty planner, there are so many things I like about this new handy tool.
So what do I love? I will tell you and this is just some of it …
Spiral Binding for the win! I love to flip my planner over and having tried other bound books and journals I have found that for me, spiral bound planners are the most convenient.
Most of the main fiber events are already there! Sure that is something I can easily add myself, but this saves me wondering of when exactly VKL or Stitches is. And it gives me a new goal… could Stitch UP one day be in the planner too? Kind of exciting and a goal I have not considered until I got this planner! It is already inspiring me to aim higher and set a new goal!
Each month starts with a space for me to put my Monthly Goals, Personal Goals & Knitting Projects. I really like that my personal goals and knitting projects are separate and this helps me keep focus on self care which is important!
Each week starts with either a Swatch Block or a Knitting Tip. I really like that there is a fiber focus weekly - this is going to come in handy when I am feeling that creative block - I can tell. I also have an idea to do the weekly stitch blocks and make myself a sampler scarf at year’s end. lets see if I can make that happen!
I also like that weekly I have a space for goals, lists, small steps to reach the big monthly goals I started with. Again - setting me up for success.
Something else that is a fabulous feature - LOTS of project space!!! Yes while I am planning my business and my life I also have designated pages for project planning. This is awesome whether your work with fiber for your job like me, or your passion! I am planning on using this to help keep my deadlines organized as 2020 is a big year for me (more on that later). If you do markets this is a great place to get organized way in advance in your market prep and really start the season off for the win! This section would be a great place to organize and plan all of your holiday projects and gift making too!
The Knitter’s Planner team has done well to offer some great accessories too. They have inserts that slip into the binding like a handy swatch guide rule and page tabs so you can add your own pages! Once you get a planner you also get emailed treats you can print out and add to the planner like yarn details and other handy info. For me, the option to add my own pages is a HUGE benefit because if I have a crazy week I can break it down however I need to by adding pages. That is so helpful.
Yes there is a downside - and I am sad to say this is not very crochet friendly. It is 100% a Knitter’s Planner! I hope that the team realizes this could be incredible for the crochet folks as well. I know I would love it for sure based on this one. So if you are a crocheter - YES you can make some teaks and make this work for you. You won’t benefit from the weekly swatches and tips but the fiber focus is definitely a win and the project organization is helpful too. Maybe for 2021 we will see a crochet version.
Until then I am extremely excited for the start to my Roaring 20’s with the Knitter’s Planner!
