Checkmate Cowl - Free Tunisian Crochet Pattern

My goodness gracious we are so excited to have one of our favorite guest designers back with us for a special treat: The Checkmate Cowl - Free Tunisian Crochet Pattern by Natalie of Detroit Knots! COME ON!!!

Natalie joined together with me and Lauren of Mother of Purl for an amazing collaboration featuring Mary Maxim Mellowspun DK! More on the story of the collaboration here.

This checkered Tunisian Crochet Cowl is worked up in tubular style with lots of ways to customize in width or even length along the way.

What really love abut this tubular Tunisian Crochet Cowl Free Pattern is that it gives and added layer of warmth without much extra work on the construction. Natalie also made it so that with a few tweaks on the math you can really go to town and customize your width.

If you would like to make the cowl thinner or wider adjust the number of stitches in multiples of 6. You will need two each of the MC and the CC. One of each set is used for the FwP and RetP respectively. The listed sizes of cowl are determined by the number of rows worked. The pattern is written for the small with the other sizes in (), without color changes. The cowl is worked in the round using the stranded colorwork. Follow the chart. For row 1-6, the RetP is worked in the corresponding FwP st color. For row 7-12, the RetP is work only in the MC.
