Lansing Stashbuster Infinity Scarf & Cowl Free Knitting Pattern

Bust your stash with this stylish and fun accessory. I designed this to be a great stash buster and a hint of style. I had a few bits of color left from another project and a fresh ball of Ivory and decided to pair them for this quick cowl. You can add length if you want and truly make this in any yarn in your stash and appropriate needle size.

MATERIALS I USED:
Lion Brand Color Made Easy #5 Bulky Yarn
Main Color A: 1 Ball (247 yards)
Color B:  a few yards
Color C:  a few yards
US 11 / 8 mm 40” circular needle
Large needle to weave ends

Stitches Used / Abbreviations:
k – knit
yo – yarn over
co – cast on (using long tail cast on method)
bo – bind off
st(s) – stitch(es)
inc’d - increased

NOTES:
The drop effect is created by wrapping your YO in the Drop Section the amount of times called for. So a YO2 means wrapping yarn around needle 2 times for each st.

YARN NOTES:
You can use any yarn in your stash and the appropriate size needles. Your gauge will be different so skip gauge and cast on to the width you want.

Gauge:  4 inch sq = 12 stitches x 22 rows in garter stitch

Finished Measurements:
Width across: 10” Approx
Circumference: 62” Approx

WITH MAIN COLOR A:
CO 30.
Rows 1 - 8: Knit (garter st). 

DROP STITCH SECTION:

COLOR B:

Rows 9-10: Knit.
Row 11 (RS):  K1, YO2, *K1, YO2*, Repeat * to * across to last 2 sts, K1, YO2, K1.
Row 12 (WS):  K1, drop 2 YO off needle, * K1, Drop 2 YO off needle*, Repeat * to * across to last st, K1.
Rows 13-14:  Knit. 

COLOR A:
Rows 15-22: Knit. 

COLOR C:
Rows 23-26: Knit.
Row 27:  K1, YO2, *K1, YO2*, Repeat * to * across to last 2 sts, K1, YO2, K1.
Row 28:  K1, drop 2 YO off needle, * K1, Drop 2 YO off needle*, Repeat * to * across to last st, K1.
Rows 29-30:  Knit. 

COLOR A:
Rows 31-40: Knit.

COLOR B:
Rows 41-44: Knit.
Row 45:  K1, YO2, *K1, YO2*, Repeat * to * across to last 2 sts, K1, YO2, K1, Turn.
Row 46:  K1, drop 2 YO off needle, * K1, Drop 2 YO off needle*, Repeat * to * across to last st, K1, Turn.

DROP SECTION COMPLETE.

COLOR A:
Work even in garter st (knit every row) until piece meas 62” or desired length.
Bind Off.
Use mattress stitch method to join ends.
