Mammoth Turtleneck Poncho Free Crochet Pattern

I truly love ponchos but I am always feeling “stuck” in them. Like “where are my arms?” stuck! So I wanted to come up with a twist on the poncho making my arms accessible for things like eating, crocheting on the go and just all around functionality. I love how it came out too! In fact, I love it so much I wore it almost every day on my trip to NYC last year.

I chose Universal Cotton Supreme Batik in color Mod as the main color and accented it with black Cotton Supreme Solid. I love the texture and feel of Universal Cotton Supreme and unlike most cottons which are DK or Sport weight, Cotton Supreme is a solid category 4 worsted weight giving the poncho shape and weight or warmth without making it heavy. It is also machine washable cotton - um… can you say winning?!?! I discovered this yarn about 2 years ago when I was exploring cottons for summer garments and was so excited to find a cotton that is true worsted weight. I love the self striping of the Batik - because let’s face it… when the yarn does the heavy lifting it makes the project go faster and I was pleasantly surprised the coloring is just perfect! Works up like a charm and I hope you love it as much as I do.
