Going Big And Chunky With Biggo Yarn From Knit Picks

Disclaimer: We Crochet provided the yarn for this design & review. The opinions are my own.

I recently had the opportunity to do a design for We Crochet and selected their Biggo yarn to create the Bridgeport Chunky Cowl. I completely fell in love with this yarn and know you will too. It has great stitch definition and being machine washable is a total bonus.

So why was I so excited when We Crochet wanted me to do a design for them? Well duh… I mean as crocheters it is a pretty awesome that they are building a new bright and lively crochet home and wanted me to be part of it. They have been working hard on a place just for us: Patterns. Yarn. Tools. All a bit of crochet heaven.

Having the “Pick The Yarn You Want” task was a bit overwhelming at first. It was hard to decide and I probably “decided” several times - I mean I could have used any yarn I wanted but once I landed on Biggo I knew I was home. This chunky beautiful yarn almost jumped off the screen at me and I knew it would be perfect for a cozy cowl.

I selected Raspberry Heather for my POP of color against a gray scale palette. It is certainly bright pink but almost has a hint of coral in it too. I just love it. For my base grays I wanted to be a color fade and flow so I went with Asphalt, Cobblestone and Dove all in heather. I really like how they both fade and yet still contrast a bit within themselves. I always say it’s good to be adventurous with color, but it is ok to stay a little safe too. A little pop in my safe zone was a great way to do both on this project.

The Biggo is a 50% merino / 50% nylon blend and for a “bulky” yarn it’s pretty light and airy too. I wasn’t expecting that bonus lightness as it flew off the hook creating beautiful stitches. It is a 2-ply yarn and I can see it being the perfect yarn for so many things beyond chunky scarves and accessories. It was nice to work with a chunky yarn to create such depth and texture that was in the stitches not just the yarn weight.

Biggo is perfect for everything from cozy, oversized sweaters to your favorite hats and accessories. I have a feeling I will be using a lot more of this yarn in the future. I cant wait to see what you make with it too.
