BLOCK BEFORE ASSEMBLY
ASSEMBLY:
Fold your work in half, marrying the beginning fhdc & last hdc rows – this will now be inside out
From the folded side:
Measure 6.5 (7.5, 8.5, 9.5)” and place pin (This will be your armhole).
Begin working from where the folded corners of the fhdc & hdc rows meet and work sl st OR sc to marry the sides. Work up to your pin for the armhole.
Fasten off.
Repeat on the other side.
TURN YOUR GARMENT RIGHT SIDE OUT
ALL SIZES:
Lay your piece out in a “diamond” with your arm holes on either side. This is the primary body and shape of your shrug.
Change to 5 mm Hook
CUFFS:
Attach at st before seam where you created armhole, then:
ROW 1: Ch 1, (does not act as a st), hdc2tog x2 in next st at seam, work 1 hdc in the side of each row all way around, sl st to top of ch 2 to join.
ROWS 2 – 6: Ch 1, (does not act as a st), hdc in each hdc all way around, sl st to top of ch 2.
Fasten off.
Repeat on the other side.
COLLAR:
This is where you will determine a “top” and “bottom” of your garment.
With the fhdc end at the bottom, place stitch markers approx. 7” below arm seam on each side.
Attach yarn at center of top which is the NECK:
ROUND 1: Ch 1, sc in each st all way around to first stitch marker, then * 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc *, repeat *to * to second marker on other side, then sc in each st all the way around to end and sl st to top of Ch 1
Round 2: Ch 1, (does not act as a st), hdc in each sc all way around, sl st to top of ch 2.
Rounds 3 – 7: Ch 1, (does not act as a st), hdc in each hdc all way around, sl st to top of ch 2.
