1824 South Side Chicago Knit Shawl Free Knitting Pattern

Say hello to the 1824 South Side Knit Shawl! This beauty is the newest knit shawl pattern in my series of patterns for crocheters AND knitters. It was first featured in the 2022 Chicago Yarn Crawl and designed for Miss Purl Chicago.

With eyelet detail sprinkled throughout the 1824 South Side Knit Shawl, this knit shawl has a little interest to mix things up but not too much so you’re staring at your pattern the entire time. Sometimes you just want to chat! Don’t let the Advanced Beginner classification get you - this two-color shawl is perfect for beginners who want to stretch their skills a little. More experienced knitters can enjoy a calm, relaxing knit while watching their stitches come together in a beautiful handmade knit accessory.

Wait - How can a knitting pattern be for a crocheter? When they are friends with a knitter who wants them to shawl along with them! Our matching knitting and crochet shawl patterns are perfect for a group of crafters with varied preferences. Choose matching colors for a bestie vibe or complimentary colors to highlight each other’s tastes. (We love knit/crochet Shawl-alongs so much we wrote a post about it! Find it here.)

Crescent shawls like this are so easy to wear and to style. Start with the center of the shawl in front of you, take the ends criss cross behind your neck and you’re done! Or drape it across your back and let the curved shape hug your shoulders. The sweet curl at the tips is the icing on the cake of this knit shawl pattern.

Ideal for chilly evenings, breezy mornings, and those days when the air conditioning is a little too much, this two-color shawl is an all-season wrap.
